The Battle of the Brains

In a world where artificial intelligence (AI) is making unprecedented strides, an intriguing question arises: can AI compete with human intellect when it comes to solving IQ tests? In the arena of intellectual combat, we present a curious contender: ChatGPT, a cutting-edge AI language model developed by OpenAI. Armed with its vast knowledge and lightning-fast processing capabilities, how will this AI powerhouse fare against the formidable IQ Test?

The Contenders: ChatGPT vs. Human Intelligence

In one corner, we have ChatGPT, an AI model built on the GPT-4 architecture, renowned for its impressive language understanding and generation capabilities. Designed to provide contextually relevant responses, ChatGPT has become an indispensable tool for a myriad of tasks, from answering questions to crafting creative narratives.

In the other corner, we have human intelligence, a product of millions of years of evolution. While each individual’s intellect varies, the human brain remains unparalleled in its adaptability, creativity, and ability to navigate the complexities of life. The IQ Global Test serves as a measure of our cognitive prowess, assessing our logical, spatial, and mathematical abilities.

Decoding the IQ Test

We used questions from https://iq-global-test.com. It is a international test designed to measure an individual’s cognitive abilities. This test consists of a series of tasks, including pattern recognition, analogies, and logical reasoning problems, which tap into various aspects of intelligence. While some questions may appear straightforward, others require a unique blend of creativity and analytical thinking that can stump even the most brilliant minds.

To truly appreciate the cerebral showdown between ChatGPT and the IQ Global Test, we must first delve into the strengths and limitations of AI in tackling such challenges.

AI Advantage: Speed and Precision

Artificial intelligence, particularly models like ChatGPT, boast unparalleled speed and accuracy when it comes to processing vast amounts of information. In tasks that involve pattern recognition and data analysis, AI can quickly identify trends and correlations, often outperforming human capabilities. When faced with mathematical problems or tasks that require rigid logical reasoning, ChatGPT could potentially excel, delivering precise and accurate solutions at lightning speed.

The Human Touch: Creativity and Intuition

Despite its impressive capabilities, AI has yet to fully replicate the creative and intuitive aspects of human intelligence. While ChatGPT can generate contextually relevant responses, it may struggle with questions that require out-of-the-box thinking or rely on abstract concepts. Human intelligence, on the other hand, is distinguished by its ability to approach problems from multiple perspectives, make intuitive leaps, and draw upon a diverse array of experiences.

Experiment results

The average human IQ is 100. In order for the AI to compete with a human in solving an IQ test, the questions were described in words. These questions were submitted for processing in the GPT chat. It should be noted that not all questions can be described, since the test also consists of questions related to spatial and abstract thinking.

Out of 15 questions, the AI solved 13 correctly. After several attempts to rewrite the questions, the AI was able to solve all 15 questions. This is an excellent result, but still lower than the average human result. This is because AI does not know how to solve creative problems.

The Verdict

ChatGPT’s face-off with the IQ Test proved to be a complex and intriguing challenge. Artificial intelligence was able to solve problems related to calculation and mathematics, which were described in detail in the chat. However, the face-off remained inconclusive as ChatGPT’s limitations in creative and abstract problem-solving became apparent.
